Late Night Ruminations

This week has really taken a toll on my sleeping patterns, among other things. So I'm awake at nearly 5 AM and I'm working on a list of what Democrats are going to need to try to stop the Republicans with unprecedented political dominance from doing. This list, which I'll be working on for probably about a week before I post it -- it will be a major part of how this site is structured -- was in my mind going to be 7 or 8 items. But in 15 minutes, while working on a totally different list, that list is near 20 items and I feel like it's going to be longer.

My general feeling is that we need individual strategies, perhaps really creative ones because the probable ending of the filibuster in the Senate, will leave us with basically no formal political power on the national level, rather than general anti-Trump protests.

But we still have to make a major electoral push on the national level in 2018 and 2020. I'm wondering, how much do we need to focus on our vision versus blocking theirs? They've certainly done well over the years with negative campaigning and obstruction. Could that work for the Democrats? I hate having to go negative; it doesn't come naturally to me, but at this point, whatever works.

Any thoughts?
