I've only seen about half of Trump's speech in Saudi Arabia, and while it didn't appear to be the catastrophuck it could've been, it was definitely the bluster of an autocrat and had several leaders present shaking their heads and making strange faces. The best I could put it:
Shorter Trump: We'll be friends if you use the hundreds of billions of dollars of weaponry we sold you...— Great Consolidation (@tgconsolidation) May 21, 2017
Some other takes:
Trump doesn't have the courage to call out "radical Islamic terrorism" to Saudis. That stuff's just for his down-market, Fox-watching base.— John Schindler (@20committee) May 21, 2017
Trump says the US has suffered from terrorism and then proceeds to only list examples of attacks carried out by self-proclaimed Muslims— Ayman Mohyeldin (@AymanM) May 21, 2017
Has anybody said THIS was the day Trump finally became President?— Steve Marmel (@Marmel) May 21, 2017
