The Obamacare Replacement "Plan"

More to come on this to be sure, but hot off the presses:

House Republicans released draft legislation Monday to replace former president Barack Obama’s signature health care law, proposing to phase out the Affordable Care Act's Medicaid expansion and change the law's subsidies for private insurance.
The bill's details released Monday do not say how many people would have coverage compared with Obamacare. But federal support would be reduced to allow Republicans to repeal the law's tax increases on the wealthy, insurance companies, drugmakers and others.

We'll all be combing through the specifics shortly, but for now, I'm glad that USA Today included the sentence in bold. No bones about it, this is a sop to the wealthy and to corporations.

The legislation is already under attack not only from Democrats, but from some Republicans who have raised concerns about eliminating coverage for millions of people who got coverage under the bill's expanded Medicaid eligibility.

Even forgetting the Senate for a minute, where the Democrats need only three Republicans to cross the line... it's going to be difficult to get this to pass the House. The Republicans can only afford to lose about 23 Republican votes to pass this, and there appear to be more than 30 that will not vote for a bill that has a replacement, and more than 30 that will not vote for one that doesn't.

I *think* we have a good shot at saving this. Nancy and Chuck, what say you?
