The Daily Combover - April 12, 2017

Jared and Ivanka are away for Passover so that means no oversight for Trump's phone usage. And as you can imagine, he took full advantage.

Late last night, Trump had an awful call with Chinese President Xi. How do I know it was awful? The official press readout from the White House is as follows:

President Donald J. Trump spoke last night with President Xi Jinping of China to follow up after President Xi’s visit to Mar-a-Lago. It was a very productive call.

If it actually was productive, he'd have disclosed the topic. Instead we got 2 sentences and a Tweet:

Had a very good call last night with the President of China concerning the menace of North Korea.

After he finished posting that Tweet about Xi, Fox & Friends must have been covering the Kansas race because Trump posted this gem:

Great win in Kansas last night for Ron Estes, easily winning the Congressional race against the Dems, who spent heavily & predicted victory!

I never quite get used to the lies. Here almost every word was a lie:

• Great win? No. This was the closest race KS04 has had in a generation.
• Ron Estes, was a twice-elected-statewide official. Thompson had no business making it that close. So easily? No, not even a little bit.
• Democrats spent $0 on the race. Had they spent heavily, there was probably going to be a shot at taking the seat but they didn't know that until the final polls that came out at the end of last week, too late to matter.
• Predicted? In Kansas? I'll  leave it at that.

Trump had a few meetings during the day but as soon as they were over, it was back to Twitter. This time with a trifecta of bullshit:

One by one we are keeping our promises - on the border, on energy, on jobs, on regulations. Big changes are happening!

We finally got his first post since the disheartening jobs report. and he's apparently very proud of the 89,000 private sector jobs that were added last month -- never mind that a year ago, under President Obama, the economy added nearly a quarter million private sector jobs. Big changes definitely are happening. And not for the better.
