The Daily Combover - April 7, 2017

This has been a crazy week. The Republicans ended Checks and Balances within the Senate in order to push new Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch over the finish line despite alleged plagiarism concerns, not to mention that seat belonged to Judge Merrick Garland.

Trump finally saw what was happening in Syria on TV and decided to fire five dozen Tomahawk missiles at a Syrian airbase. Then he left to go wine and dine Chinese President Xi in Mar-a-Lago amidst one of the worst job reports we've seen since 2012.

Meanwhile, the #TrumpRussia investigation was derailed by currently-under-investigation Devin Nunes in the House, so the Senate took over and immediately made a splash with Clint Watts' testimony. But when they tried to call in Kushner for questioning, he left the country. But not before making sure his wife had a position beside her father as well as finding a way to undermine Bannon so badly that Trump had Bannon removed from the NSC Principals committee. Bannon threatened to resign but the Mercers forced him to step back off the ledge.

So here we are on Friday and it's pretty clear Kushner won the week.  The biggest losers? You, dear readers, and the rest of the American people.Trump's schedule today lists just one thing today -- meetings with Chinese President Xi. Let's check in with that:
11:22 A.M. EDT
PRESIDENT TRUMP:  I just want to say that President Xi and all of his representatives have been really interesting to be with.  I think we have made tremendous progress in our relationship with China.  My representatives have been meeting one-on-one with their counterparts from China.  And I think, truly, progress has been made.  We'll be making a lot of additional progress.
Translation: They cut my businesses a huge break, making me a ton of money so now we're BFFs.
The relationship developed by President Xi and myself I think is outstanding.  We look forward to being together many times in the future.  And I believe lots of very potentially bad problems will be going away.
So I just want to thank President Xi for being with us in the United States.  It's a tremendous honor for me and all of my representatives to host the President and his representatives.  And again, progress has been made.
So much progress that I don't even have the words to say it.
Thank you very much.  Thank you.
(President Xi speaks in Chinese.)
PRESIDENT TRUMP:  Well, I agree 100 percent, Mr. President.  And thank you very much.  And again, a tremendous honor to have you in the United States and in Mar-a-Lago.  Thank you very much.
Wait, that's it?
END
11:26 A.M. EDT
Yeah, it's just one of those days.

Catch you on the flip side.
